The Beginning
A Vision Born on Bond Street
In the autumn of 1994, founder Edward PearlWaveGlow opened the doors of a narrow Georgian shopfront at 8 New Bond Street with a single ambition: to offer London's most discerning residents something that mass-market optical chains simply could not — frames of genuine distinction, curated with the same rigour one might bring to collecting fine art.
The early collection comprised just twelve frames, sourced from two Italian ateliers and a single Japanese titanium workshop that Edward had visited the previous summer. By the end of that first season, every piece had found a home.
"I was not interested in selling eyewear. I was interested in changing how people see the world — and how the world sees them."
Three decades on, the philosophy remains unchanged. Pearl Wave Glow now carries thirty signature frames, each one sourced personally by our curatorial team from workshops in Lombardy, Fukui and Paris. Every piece is selected not merely for visual appeal, but for the quality of its manufacture, the integrity of its materials, and its capacity to endure.
We remain proudly independent — answerable only to our clients and to the standards we have held since the beginning.
What We Stand For
Our Three Pillars
Artisanship
Every frame in our collection is the product of hands-on craftsmanship that has not changed in generations. We visit each atelier personally, evaluating not just the finished product but the process, the people and the philosophy behind it. We believe that the quality of the making is inseparable from the quality of the wearing.
Integrity
We charge what fine eyewear is worth, and not a penny more. We will never inflate prices for the sake of perceived exclusivity, nor compromise on materials to protect our margins. Our relationship with each client is built on transparency — you will always know exactly what you are buying and why we believe it is worth having.
Vision
We are curators before we are retailers. Our role is to do the work — to travel, to discover, to interrogate — so that when you arrive at our atelier, every frame on our shelves is one we would genuinely recommend. We have turned away frames that failed our standards, and we always will.
The PearlWaveGlow Client
For Those Who Know the Difference
Our clients are architects, artists, surgeons and financiers. They are travellers and scholars, collectors and connoisseurs. What they share is not a profession or a postcode, but an understanding that the finest things in life are not the most visible — they are the most considered.
They do not seek logos. They seek excellence. And they understand, as we do, that wearing the right frame is not vanity — it is simply paying attention to the details that shape how we move through the world.
